Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the opening of Volare Wine & Bistro?

ZBR: I was born and raised in Atlanta, in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Growing up, my family had a long-standing, loving relationship with food – whether we were growing, selling or cooking it. I’ve always been up for a challenge, so when I found my love for food alongside my family, becoming a chef just felt right. Food has been my playground ever since, as I love to experiment with different combinations of flavors throughout the seasons to find the perfect taste.

Opening Volare Wine & Bistro was a process, especially when reopening following the statewide shutdown last year. Preparing the restaurant and food is the easy part, but reengaging with our customer base, ensuring everyone was happy and doing our best to make each guest feel safe was difficult. However, we’re always trying to grow, and we truly want to brighten the smile of those who dine with us, so we’ve worked through these challenges.

Q: How does it feel to contribute to the community of Hapeville? How has Volare Wine & Bistro contributed to the community as a whole?

ZBR: Having the opportunity to give back through my cooking is a huge honor. One of the best aspects of the Hapeville community is the people – they truly do everything they can to make this small neighborhood feel big. Their kind, warm and welcoming attitudes keep this city alive, and over the years, I’ve had the pleasure to observe so many individuals shape and develop Hapeville – and Atlanta as a whole.

Volare Wine & Bistro has contributed to this community by providing a place of comfort to anyone looking for good food. We also donate food to the local ministry, helping to feed the less fortunate, and we try to support local festivals and events in Hapeville as much as possible.

Q: Is there a specific business accomplishment that you are really proud of?

ZBR: I am proud to say that we have been able to open back up after the initial effects of COVID-19, providing our customers with a safe and unforgettable dining experience.
