A division of international logistics company DHL is getting more help with on-the-job safety at its Union City warehouse.
Level Seven Facilities Services, a commercial cleaning and building maintenance company, recently contracted with DHL Supply Chain to serve its 1.5 million-square-foot international courier, parcel and express mail processing center near Atlanta Metro Studios in the former Shannon Mall.
According to a news release, Level Seven’s cleaning specialists and supervisors work alongside about 2,000 DHL personnel to ensure all working and high-visibility areas remain clean in the delivery company’s largest metro Atlanta facility.
It is an “around-the-clock” maintenance job, the release stated, which includes ensuring the safety of workers by keeping the warehouse floor clear of any debris or dust build-up.
Health and wellness will also be a priority in its cleaning of recreational and common areas, offices, restrooms and a cafeteria.
Curb appeal is also part of the package.
An exterior grounds attendant patrols sidewalks and parking lots for ongoing trash removal during day shifts.
Janitorial services include pressure washing.
Three weekday shifts cover 24-hour periods while weekend shifts are 12 hours each.
Level Seven Managing Partner Steven Tomlinson said upon the annual contract’s announcement that his company looks forward to maintaining an orderly atmosphere.
“Our systematic approach and an arrangement of checks and balances will address the facility’s needs no matter the time of day or circumstance,” he said in a statement.
The release stated the contract resulted from a competitive bidding process.
Operations management leaders in the DHL division selected Level Seven based upon its proprietary management systems and actively involvement of co-owners and senior management personnel with supervising customers’ cleaning plans, the release stated.
The division issued a statement regarding its assessment of the service provider’s work to date.
“Our company recently opened a large scale, state-of-the-art warehouse facility. Our warehouse has a workout facility, full-service cafeteria, two very large parking lots, a half-mile access road, amenities area and many sets of washrooms, all of which Level Seven services for us,” the division stated. “We experimented with several local companies in the early phases of our opening for a variety of cleaning services. We were able to consolidate services with the Level Seven team and the company has been engaged every step of the way, keeping our facility looking brand-new.”
The division stated that with the number of employees and amount of activity seen on a daily basis, maintenance is not a simple task but Level Seven helps it build a culture in which it can take pride.
