As the sun brightens the sky for longer and colorful flowers bloom, the ATL Airport District comes to life with vibrant outdoor events and festivals that usher in a fresh start. This season promises diverse fun for all ages and interests. From a celebration of light and creativity at a beloved lantern parade to thrilling bicycle races that weave their way through the District, spring is in the air, and we’re here to help you enjoy every second. 

Mark your calendar because these are our favorite spring events on the Southside. 

College Park Wine Stroll & Live Music on the Lawn 

March 13th | Wine Stroll 4-6:30 p.m., Live Music 6:30-8 p.m. | Historic College Park 

Shake off winter and mingle with local business owners and neighbors at the annual College Park Wine Stroll & Live Music on the Lawn, where you can sip your way down Main Street on March 13th. Then, soak up the beautiful spring weather on the Keith James Auditorium lawn, where you can settle down and enjoy a free live performance by talented artists. Take spring memories home with you by purchasing a commemorative wine glass as you participate in the Wine Stroll. 

 

Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers 

March 28th and April 11th | 6 p.m. reception followed by 7 p.m. screening | Christ Church & Carriage House at Jess Lucas Park 

Celebrate the art of independent filmmaking with free film screenings presented by the City of Hapeville and the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers, a spring film series spotlighting three films, each followed by a Q&A session with directors and producers. Admission is free and includes complimentary food, beverages, and live music. Films include Home is a Hotel (tackling housing affordability), This World is Not My Own (reimagining the 20th century), and North Putnam (following a rural Indiana school district). 

 

Hapeville Butterfly Lantern Parade 

March 22nd | 5-10 p.m. | Jess Lucas Park 

The enchanted Hapeville Butterfly Lantern Parade returns for its third magical year, where twinkling lights and illuminated butterfly creations wow guests of all ages. Create your own butterfly lantern and dance or flutter your way down the mile-long parade route, followed by an evening of food vendors, a pop-up artist market, and other festivities. Looking for inspiration? Register for one of several butterfly lantern puppet workshops throughout the month of March led by parade artist Chantelle Rytter, where you can design your own awe-inspiring lantern. 

 

Hapeville’s Coffee & Chrome Monthly Car Show 

April 12th and May 10th | 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Jess Lucas Park 

April officially kicks off the 2025 Coffee & Chrome season, which takes place every second Saturday through September. This family-friendly free car and motorcycle show proudly presents vintage automobiles, decked-out vehicles, and roaring motorcycles. Rev up the morning with chrome, coffee, and the entire Hapeville and District community. 

 

Spin the District 

April 29th through May 4th | Various locations 

Atlanta Airport District’s signature event, Spin the District, is back with more adrenaline-filled races in all three District cities. As its seventh and biggest year yet, the cycling races draw pro cyclists and cycling enthusiasts with food trucks, beer vendors, music, artist markets, and fun for the entire family. Spin your way across Hapeville Friday, April 11 from 5-10 p.m. Ride through Union City Tuesday, April 29 from 5-10 p.m. And close out the festivities in College Park with record-breaking speeds on Sunday, May 4 from noon to 6 p.m. 

 

La Fiesta En Hapeville 

May 17th | 5-8 p.m. | Jess Lucas Park 

La Fiesta En Hapeville is a vibrant celebration of Latin culture hallmarked by live music, food vendors, and fun for the entire family. Enjoy face painting, inflatables, and a clown performance, or hang onto the mechanical bull and partake in a human-sized game of foosball. However you choose to spend the night, this spirited and lively event is a District must in the spring.
