(UNION CITY)- Wonderful things are continuing to happen in Union City as we celebrate our Third Annual UC Music & Arts Festival and our Pinktober Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, October 22nd. These events are sure to promote arts, culture, music and fitness as core components of a vibrant community. The 5K activities will occur from 9:00am-11:00am and will be followed by the Music and Arts Festival commencing from 11:00am -6:00pm. Both events will take place in the City Hall vicinity at the cross streets of Union and Watson.

“The City Council and I are committed to our role of serving as a catalyst for change in Union City,” stated Mayor Vince Williams. Essential to this endeavor is making a focused investment to foster programs that will help improve our residents’ quality of life. Music, arts and fitness are excellent examples of this investment.”

Festival participants will be able to see or hear original work in several forms, from jewelry to music to painting and sculpting. In addition to hosting highly acclaimed and respected artists, the Festival will feature a wonderful selection of food choices, family fun, and more. Casual festival-goers and entertainment seekers alike can enjoy an autumn weekend with friends while perusing the crafts market and taking in the musical sounds of Union City’s featured artists.

Sandra “Cherokee” Hill is the founder of 4 Direction Traders and sells American Indian treasures including dreamcatchers, jewelry, and more. “I am so excited to invite everyone to join us for an even bigger and more exciting festival,” she affirmed.

Preceding the festival is the Breast Cancer Awareness 5K. Participants can enjoy a 3 mile walkathon/run from downtown Union City to beautiful Ronald Bridges Park. The American Cancer Society will be accepting donations and proceeds in support of breast cancer research.
