Arts & Culture
OUR LOCAL CULTURE HAS INTERNATIONAL APPEAL.
It doesn’t take long to see that what starts in Atlanta can have far-reaching impact. Just passing through our airport, you’ll realize that you already know many of our hometown heroes by name. In fact, two of them, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and President Jimmy Carter, now have Centers dedicated to their lives’ work. And that’s not the only cultural attraction of note here.
A visit to the new Center for Civil and Human Rights takes you on a journey through the American Civil Rights and Global Human Rights movements, Atlanta’s LGBT history, and much more. Step even further back in time at the Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum. Or go all the way back to the time of the dinosaurs at the popular Fernbank Museum of Natural History.
If arts are more your thing, treat yourself to an afternoon at Atlanta’s renowned High Museum of Art, which features more than 15,000 works of art in the permanent collection, including some by Rodin, Monet, Tournier, Tiepolo, and Ernst.
