Arts & Culture

Our local culture has international appeal.

You can catch a show, view an exhibit, or spot a celebrity in the District any day of the week.

The District has been home to many influential people in the arts, including Ludacris, Outkast, Kenan Thompson, Cam Newton, Monica, TLC, 2 Chainz and many more. The District has also played a role in well-known Georgia-filmed movies and television shows, like Stranger Things, The Walking Dead and Cobra Kai. (The list goes on and on and on. And on.) We’re at the heart of Y’allywood, with location shoots constantly nestled into our historic town and neighborhoods. Tyler Perry Studios is right around the corner from the District, and Atlanta Metro Studios is right here in Union City. From movies to music and beyond, the entire District is rife with interesting pop culture landmarks—you just have to know where to look.

In addition to its history of valuable contributions, the District is also leading the way in what’s “now” in the arts. Choose from our many interactive art studios and exhibits, murals, original ballets, music venues and festivals, and the longest-running theatre company in the Southeast.
