Butterfly Lantern Parade & Workshops
Come Create & Fly With UsReturning to downtown Hapeville, this enchanting event is fun for the whole family. Everyone is invited to create a butterfly lantern and join in a parade led by the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons and Seed & Feed Marching Abominables. March, dance, skip, and/or flutter your way down the mile-long parade route, stepping off at 8:10pm, to usher in spring.
Before and after the parade, enjoy the food and beverage vendors, a pop-up artist market, a crafting station, and other fun festival activities begiunning at 5pm. Mark your calendar now so you don't miss this magical community celebration of light and creativity!
Let's Make Magic! Butterfly Workshop Classes
Make your own illuminated masterpiece, by signing up for a butterfly lantern puppet workshop or visiting the website for inspiration to craft your own at home! All workshops are led by parade artist Chantelle Rytter and held at Christ Church in Hapeville (680 South Central Avenue). Parking is available behind the church, and the entrance to the parking lot is on Atlanta Ave.
Sunday, March 8
12pm-4pm | Illuminated Flower Workshop
These lovely illuminated flowers stand 4’ tall and are made of fabric and string lights. They are mostly scissor and hot glue work and therefor best for adults. All materials and tools are provided but you are welcome to bring any fabric you might like to use. Thin fabric illuminates best. This workshop is likely to run over, please do your best to be on time.
Tickets are per sunflower. Two people are welcome to work on one sunflower, (please no more than two.) You are welcome to bring a beverage & snack.

Saturday, March 14 & Sunday, March 15
1pm-4pm | Family Butterfly Lantern Workshop
Guests will be making 11” x 17” illuminated butterfly puppets! This involves coloring with markers, scissor-work, hot glue, tape, and a fair amount of manual dexterity. This project is best for folks 8 years-old and up with an adult assistant. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Tickets are per butterfly. Two people can work on one butterfly (please no more than two.) The butterflies do take every bit of 3 hours to make. Please do your best to be on time. You are welcome to bring a beverage & snack. All materials are included.
