In the time between Labor Day and Halloween, south Fulton cities offer opportunities to enjoy autumn weather, meet friends and shop outdoor markets for that perfect holiday gift.
Free admission is but one of many features of the following fall festivals.
Hapeville
Hapeville will host the LocalMotion Arts Festival on Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Jess Lucas Park, 680 S. Central Ave. in its historic downtown area, with an artist walk from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Called on its Facebook page “a visual, performing arts and craft beer experience” and “a premier artist destination,” it includes art media from all over the Southeast, local craft beers on tap, wine, live music, dance, comedy, children’s activities and food vendors. East Point
The Destination East Point Fall Celebration is Oct. 6 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the commons area at 2757 Main St. Billed as “part small-town harvest fair and part carnival,” attractions for its estimated 3,000 attendees include circus acts, vendors, community booths, contests and entertainment. Fairburn
Fairburn will host its fall festival Oct. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 5,000 attendees are expected to enjoy the parade, arts and crafts booths and food vendors, according to the city’s Facebook page. “The festivities include children’s activities, performances, a food court, street entertainment and the much-awaited Fairburn Festival Parade,” the city stated on its website. Last year’s event included parade entries from middle and high schools, colleges and universities, cowboys on horseback, the Georgia Renaissance Festival and the Cherokee Hill Tribe of South Atlanta, which presented the festival’s inaugural Native American cultural village afterward. College Park
KidsFest is Sept. 29 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse, College Park. Admission is free. Attractions include kids’ activities, arts and crafts, family entertainment, a health fair, vendors and more. College Park City Councilman Roderick Gay will host his fourth annual Ward 4 Community Festival on Oct. 13 from noon to 6 p.m. at Phillips Park, 440 Herschel Road. Open to all, attractions for its estimated 1,000 attendees include circus acts, music, a car show, dance contest, art, children’s activities, food trucks, pony rides and health screenings. Union City
The fourth annual UC Music and Arts Festival, postponed from August due to weather, is reset for Oct. 13 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Unclaimed Freight depot in Shannon Square, 4700 Jonesboro Road. Celebrating the city’s 110th anniversary, it includes arts and crafts vendors, live music, children’s activities, food trucks and a carnival.
